Global Warming Increase in Michigan (new window)

A new report shows global warming has increased here in Michigan. The group environment Michigan released its new analysis of government temperature data. It shows that recent temperatures are well above historical averages in Lansing, Grand Rapids and in Detroit. Representatives from the group gathered at the State Capitol to discuss changes that they feel are needed.

Wyman Khuu, fund for public interest: "We're really pushing the state and the rest of the country to cut their emissions by 20% by the year 2020 and 80% by 2050, so that we can address some of these issues."

According to the report, the year 2007 tied for the warmest year on record in Michigan and seven of the eight warmest years have happened since 2001.
