In 2006, Environment Michigan Research & Policy Center became the new home of Public Interest Research Group in Michigan (PIRGIM) Education Fund's environmental work, focusing exclusively on protecting Michigan's air, water and open spaces.

Environment Michigan Research & Policy Center has been a leader on key environmental issues in Michigan, including protecting the Great Lakes and preventing toxic mercury pollution.
