Let's Repower America
Use the form to the right to urge Sens. Levin and Stabenow to work to pass clean energy legislation that is strong enough to repower America.
Dear Senator:
We can repower America with clean energy, protect our environment, and rebuild our economy in the process -- putting millions of Americans to work building wind turbines, installing solar panels, weatherizing homes, and building plug-in hybrid cars that get 100 miles to the gallon. This June, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act, an important step toward a clean energy economy. We urge you to work to strengthen and pass that legislation through the Senate this fall. Please support:
- Requiring utilities to generate at least 25 percent of the nation’s energy from clean, renewable sources, such as wind and solar power, by 2025.
- Cutting energy use in new buildings in half and requiring utilities to use 15 percent less energy by 2020.
- Reducing global warming pollution by 35 percent by 2020 and by at least 80 percent by 2050.
- Requiring aging coal-fired power plants to meet up-to-date technology standards, with no special loopholes or carveouts.

A major investment in clean energy and green jobs
Environment Michigan worked with our congressional delegation to
strengthen President Obama's economic recovery package. Thousands of
online activists from Environment Michigan and our allies took action
to ask Congress to keep funding for clean energy and green jobs in the
final bill. In the end, the president's recovery package included $33
billion for clean energy and $27 billion for energy efficiency. Read more.
