This is a huge step in the right direction
On Thursday, May 28th, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack issued a
directive requiring that any new logging or roadbuilding projects in
our most pristine national forest lands be approved by him.
Use the form to the right to express your thanks, and to ask Vilsack
to use this directive to prevent degradation of these treasured parts
of our national forests.
Preserving Michigan’s WildernessIn 2006 we were joined by 8,000 citizens in asking Gov. Granholm to
protect our public lands from logging, mining and development. As a
result, the state passed laws curbing sales of park land and committed
to creating at least three new protected areas. Read more.
