Letter	Dear Representative, In March, 26 Representatives (and 17 Senators) endorsed a bi-partisan renewable energy bill that requires 20% of our electricity to come clean renewable sources by 2020. This important bill would help create thousands of jobs, decrease our dependence on imported fossil fuels, diversify our energy portfolio, clean our air and protect the Great Lakes. Our state needs to take bold action to create jobs and protect its environment; we cannot continue to lag behind other states in renewable energy development. During the 2006 election season, Environment Michigan signed 87 candidates for state office, some now in positions of power, on to our “New Energy Future” platform, which calls for 20 percent of our energy to come from clean, renewable sources by 2020. Read more .
